Legal Nurse Consultant

Legal Nurse Consultant
A course designed to prepare Registered Nurses (RN) and Physician’s Assistants (PA) for a career in the legal field as legal nurse consultants. RNs and PAs will gain the fundamental skills necessary to advise law firms, health care providers, insurance companies, and governmental agencies regarding medically related issues, and to appear in court as expert witnesses. The course teaches legal concepts related to the health care industry, as well as the role a legal nurse consultant might play in specific litigation areas. Legal Nurse Consultant Certified (LNCC) is a discretionary test discussed during this training course; however, RNs and Pas graduating from this program do not need to take the LNCC in order to practice as legal nurse consultants.

This course is divided into three lessons over the course of seven weeks:

Lesson 1: Legal theory and terminology, legal nurse consultant practice torts, crimes, and contact breaches.
Lesson 2: Ethics, litigation process, and preparing to be an expert witness.
Lesson 3: Employment areas, trial preparation, and fundamentals of legal writing.

Note: Textbooks are required, but are not included in the fee and must be ordered through www.legalstudies.com.
